Default Heated seats

I turn on the heated seat switch, but do not notice any heat at all.

Same on passenger side. Do these fail often? Does back and seat both get warm?

The seat heaters are controlled by the BCM through the seat module plus there is a thermal switch in the heating element itself. The heating element is in both the seat and the lower back area. The thermal switch is set for a pretty low level and never really gets noticeably warm . . . at least in my car. The seat module and the thermal switch are the first failure choices.

There is a thread describing how to replace/modify the thermal switch that can be found with a quick search.

My seats get hot really quick. I need to turn them off after 10 min or so. It is very "noticeable".

This is interesting. In the short time I have had my car I notice that they warm but not very much. I get cold easy and I have a couple other cars that really heat up.

The owner's manual makes it sound like they get to a certain point then stop heating up more.

I will have to read more about this because like my seats to be really warm.

There is a pictorial of replacing the thermal switch buried in the seat bottom somewhere. You can bypass it or move it further away from the heater element for higher temps. Sorry, couldn't find it at the moment.

FOUND IT!

Thanks for the link. Found it after some digging yesterday.

I did not read about moving the thermal switch away from the element tho. Are there suggestions here?

I did read some talk of people finding a rheostat but no one ever did. It's too bad Jag did not put a mulit level, or even a rotary, switch like some do.

BTW, my brother had a 81 Volvo Bertone. Cool but crazy looking. Those chopped down windows were something. I think they are only offered in the states in the two tone brown and gold combo in 91. Best color of the three years.
