Default Help with supercharger install

Hey, everyone

Does anyone have experience (and success) with installing the upper puller on the eaton? I tried heating it up in the oven, but it didn't seem to do the job. It didn't get hot enough for it to expand to clear the shaft. I could get a torch and heat it up even further, but it seems a little unsafe and risky.

I was thinking of going to the local harbor freight and getting this one: https://m.harborfreight.com/pulley-remover-and-installer-set-12-pc-63068.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided

Do you think this would do the job?

Time is limited so I need something that I can buy locally and that's not too expensive.

I welcome any suggestions.
Thanks

It appears that it could do the job provided the kit has a screw installer (Figure G) which has M8 thread to go into the supercharger shaft and that the screw is made of high grade steel, 10.9 as a minimum, I would think, 12.9 better. The force required to push the pulley on is quite high so the critical point is the strength of the installer screw.

I just installed the pulley on my supercharger using the ZZ Performance tool. Two M8 installer screws came with the kit meaning that it sometimes breaks (I was waiting for it to happen during installation judging by the force I was applying on the big nut but it went in fine). I heated the pulley in the oven to about 150C just to make the pull-in slightly easier on the tool. If the tool you mentioned has an M8 screw and you decide to buy it, I suggest you also use some pre-heat on the pulley and, of course, lubricate the shaft and the pulley hole. This is how the ZZ Performance installation tool looks (the Jackscrew shown has a guide pin screwed into it for removal, fully threaded M8 stud is screwed-in instead for installation):

I'm kind of stuck. I heated the pulley in the oven at 410F for around 20 minutes.
It seems like it reached limits of the pulley installer and can't get it in further. Did you reach a point like this?

Too late now but there is a freeze spray can you can purchase that would possibly have helped with cooling the nose of the SC. It might help enyboby else coming along that is going through this.

Default Finally fit it on

It's all about the right tool for the job. I gave up on using the harbor freight pulley puller/installer kit. I ended up getting the loaner kit that my local O'Reilly store offers (part #67010). And got the pulley all the way on within an hour. The problem was that the bearing on the harbor freight kit could not handle the force and would get stuck when attempting to turn the puller body; thus, turning the pulley with the puller body. The O'Reilly kit came with the bearing embedded in the puller body and can handle the force, so it made turning the pulley body without turning the pulley possible.

I would recommend this that tool to anyone.
