Hose from the back on the thermostal housing base?

Hose from the back on the thermostal housing base?
I took my 99 VDP to am independent mechanic, with a coolant leak I could exactly pinpoint, but general area was on the back on the thermostat housing base, underneath the manifold... Is there a house that runs the length engine block that's directly under the manifold? The shop told me they couldn't find anybody that lists that part (house) so they don't know what size, length it really is. Any ideas? Thanks!
