My 2002 XJR has some type of oil spots all over the intercoolers. I have tried engine degreaser and other products but nothing seems to be able to remove these spots. does anyone know of a good product to get these stains off of my intercoolers?

 

I use black magic 2 in 1 engine shine on my xjr and it usually does a really good job, it even has the xjr engine on the label! Usually get it on sale at advanced auto but i have seen it at others.

that did provide a nice general "shiny engine" but unfortunately the spots on my intercooler remain

no paint flaking
there are just darker grey spots over most of the intercooler assembly on top of the supercharger, with a higher concentration near the oil fill cap, as if there was some type of oil spillage or something at some point in the past. i have tried "engine degreaser" and "black magic 2-in-1 engine shine" and neither would remove the spots.
