How does a bad differential output shaft bearing sound?

Default How does a bad differential output shaft bearing sound?
Experts please help me out I'm trying to figure out the ticking noise in my diff.

On my XJ8 VDP the diff output shaft bearing made a fairly loud whining noise. Replacement fixed it.
