how many miles does your XJ8 have.
Owing to the implementation of stricter environmental standards in the Netherlands, I am regrettably obliged to retire my faithful Jaguar from active service. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for its many years of dependable performance. Despite its considerable mileage, the vehicle remains good condition.
My 2002 XJR had 38,000 when I bought it three years ago. It now has 40,200. I have replaced the headliner, both fuel pumps, the D/S heated O2 sensor, and all four shock donuts (In addition to all engine fluids). Seems like about 1000 of those miles has been running through the emissions system reset profiles. I'm paranoid about taking it more than 50 miles from the house.... I trust the old '64 E-type more. Sure looks pretty though.
Just rolled over 114,000 in my 2002 base model. I bought it 4 years ago with just over 100,000 and immediately did a trans fluid and filter swap. It's currently running rich and idling rough, so needs a bit more TLC but I believe the engine and trans will be strong beyond the useful life of the interior and plastic bits and bobs.
My 2004 XJ8 has 205,000 miles and has been a daily driver in Arizona since new. It still runs and drives like new, best car I've ever owned. It's had 3 or 4 sets of running gear, 3 water pumps, new fuel pump, new radiator, 2 or 3 sets of mounts, many new hoses etc., etc. but the engine and transmission are still untouched. I replace worn out parts when needed and it's like new again every time. Color Silver Patina
Interior still looks great, no squeaks no rattles nothing broken or missing, just solid.

161,XXX miles on my 1999 XJR (Black on Black). I am the second owner, bought her in September of last year, with 149,XXX on the clock. Tensioners and a new transmission were replaced by her P/O. Think she did about 147,000 miles on the original timing chain setup, which is remarkable.
The car had been sitting (on a trickle charger) for about ten years when I took delivery. Since that time, I've replaced the tires, upper shock mounts, cupholder, marker lamps, PCV hose, battery, water pump, thermostat, coolant purge tank, spark plugs, coils (all of them simultaneously), cam covers, cam gaskets, every coolant hose including those in the dreaded valley, which led to the supercharger being serviced, power steering cooler, engine mounts, brake switch, front and rear shocks and bushings, and the drive belts/idler pulley.
Original engine, still pulls like a freight train. Regular oil changes at 5,000 miles, mostly dealer serviced until I found an independent shop willing to have lots of business from me. Knocking on wood that I'll have her for another 160,000+ miles, since it's worth functionally nothing on the open market at these miles, but is priceless to me.
Presently the only two things that need repairing are the sunroof (which operates but has the common issue of the shade that has come off the rails), and the nozzle for the windshield wiper fluid to the wiper. I have the part for the wiper, but have resolved never to fix the sunroof, as part of my philosophy that the second you make a used car absolutely perfect, it will crumble like a house of cards.

Currently 174,250 on my 2001 XJR as I rolled into the parking lot at work this morning, putting me at 50,000 miles since I bought it in July of 2022. Apart from significant problems with a rebuilt throttle body, its been very reliable.
No, I don't use it much but it is my only car.
I bought mine new in `1999. Hardly used it for decades. Now with new shocks and tires etc. I use it every two or three days. Up to 44,000 miles. I am 78. I wonder which of us will make it to 100... first!
That silver car in AZ is in remarkable shape for having over 200K miles! From this and other posts, it's good to read that these cars can actually go over 100K miles without catastrophic maintenance costs.

The Mk1 in my avatar reminds me constantly. Flattened by a fallen tree in a violent Blue Mountains snowstorm, it was rebuilt from the ground up at 100,000 miles. Crankshaft was as brand new, with all journals and big ends within factory tolerances. Bored and rebuilt with straight port head, hot cams, twin straight-through exhaust, this Jag ran for another 250,000 miles under my ownership with no expenses other than lubes, tyres, battery etc. By comparison, a Series II E-Type with only 7,000 miles, suffered what could have been a tragic end when a rear brake line ruptured during its first drive after being "fully checked over and polished up".
Cheers,
