Exclamation Engine misfires in the cold

Hello,

My 2000 Jaguar XJ8 misfires in the cold, and it will not start after multiple attempts. I had the same exact issue in January, and ended up having to replace the spark plugs (after flooding the engine trying to start it) to fix it. The error codes that come up are P1000 and P0455. The second code with the EVAP has been an ongoing thing and is not of concern, but the P1000 is new. Additionally, the battery light comes on the dash in accessory mode. Should I try to jump start it and it's just a battery problem, or do I need to replace the spark plugs again, or something else? I've attached a video where you can hear the noise the engine makes when I try to turn it on. Any help on diagnosing/solutions so I don't have to go to the mechanic would be greatly appreciated.

I am happy for someone to correct me, but I always thought that the P1000 is absolutely nothing to worry about - it does not mean anything.

As for the P0455: This is your problem: You seem to have a fuel vapour leak:
2 links to hopefully get you on the right track:

P1000 means it's not completed the emissions testing cycle I believe. I see Americans moaning about it a lot on here as that need to complete for them in some states to pass the smog test, or something like that.

Your car will always have either P1000 or P1111. As posted above this tells you the status of the cars readiness monitors. If you clear codes you will see the P1000. If they have set you will see P1111.
What scanner are you using? Many will not see all the error codes. The other code is an EVAP error and should not have anything to do with starting.

What plugs were installed? The factory recommended brand or something else?
What are the plugs gapped at?

After the car has sat all night what is the battery voltage? How old is the battery?
How many miles on the car?

A faulty coolant temp. sensor, located in the outlet pipe under the thermostat housing could cause cold start problems. If you buy a new pipe the sensor is included and you will also avoid the issue of the pipe connection to the radiator hoses degrading and the hose blowing off.
Replacing spark plugs due to flooding is unnecessary, do a search for 'bore wash'.

agree: cold start, temp sensor.

Spark plugs don't go bad that fast (except when poorly installed).

Clean MAF; clean throttle body and plate; check wires from sensors to MAF; tighten all fittings in air tube. Change temp sensor in cross over pipe; recharge battery.

Also check to make sure your gas cap is clean and tightened correctly: it must click.

With P1000 one or more OBD monitors is unset (unhappy) (or you caused P1000 and haven't given the cat a decent chance to re-set the monitor(s)).

Each unset one means a lot of codes cannot flag.

You can get Catch-22: fault prevents monitor setting, which means it can't flag a code for the fault. You get to diagnose blind...
