Hello all,

I've just purchased a XJR 2001 which has a wretched Nokia phone holder "hooked" into the centre console next to the gear selector (see pic below).

I want to remove but have no idea how the wooden panel is removed to get to the mount the phone is on. Any tips or links to how-tos would be great :-) (I've just spent the last hour Googling but haven't found a guide for the XJR circa 2001)

...even more bizarrely, the former owner still actually had an old nokia he used.

Hmm, I wonder if I could get a bluetooth adapter to work with this setup...

Regards,
Troy.

You need to pry the gearbox selector lever surround 'straight up' with plastic or wooden prying tools. I use windscreen plastic tools but something like a popsicle stick will work.

You will break some or ALL of the plastic mount pegs in the surround and the switch bezel.

The console veneer panel is held down with 4 screws on a plastic plate. (the plate that retains the surround bezel)

Lift the rear of the veneer panel near the ashtray and lever it away from above the radio/climate control panel. It has a plastic 'tongue' that fits in a slot.

Thanks Bob! That was a piece of cake...and I only broke 1 tab

...although, I must admit, I did find a youtube video showing how to do this for an XK8 using two credit cards. I also saw the post in one of the forums guides too but couldn't find it again to say thanks :-(

Troy.
