Hydraulic system mineral oil
Just got done tightening a clamp to p/s hose that was leaking fluid (gold in color). Now I want to top off the power steering fluid to replace what I lost. My manual says to use HYDRAULIC SYSTEM MINERAL OIL, called the dealer and they say parts call for Dexron III. My concern is, if I have a lot of mineral oil left in the system should I be mixing Dexron III with it. If anyone can shed some light on this matter it would be greatly appreciated.

An "X300" XJR? Supercharged 6-cylinder?
That's pretty strange. The X300 service manual I got from Jaguar as well as the owners manual for my own XJR both call for Dexron in the p/s system.
I'd be inclined to avoid mixing the fluids but I'm talking outa my hat. It might be permissible. Others will chime in.
I'm more curious as to why your car and your manual calls for HSMO when miine don't!
Cheers

Hey Doug,
Here is what happened, when I bought the car it had the portfolio in the trunk and in it was a 4.0 SALOON-HANDBOOK and VEHICLE CARE BOOK along with other books and manuals. The mistake that I made was, I kept referring to the handbook for the information, but I think that is the wrong handbook for my car because once I looked at the vehicle care book it called for Dexron III.
Thank for responding
