I got a "Failsafe Engine Mode" warning
Hi,
I'm new to this and I hope I can get some help. I have a 1998 XJ8L. I recently had a remote starter put in. A short time afterward I got a "Failsafe Engine Mode" warning along with a yellow light. There is no effect on performance but the cruise control doesn't work either. I have replaced the brake stoplight swith, cleaned the throttle body and the electrical connections to it and checked for vacumn leaks. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any suggestions where to look next?

Welcome to the forum Mike,
I've moved your question from US North East Region to X308 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.
When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see.
In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

I have exactly the same thing happening, I saw in another thread that the same symptoms are caused by 4 way vacuum connector behind throttle body, - I don't think this is my problem, mine started 2 days after I washed the engine after replacing the valve cover gaskets, my prob will be a wet plug.
I presume it's the MIL a.k.a CEL yellow light?

First step should be to have the codes read to see what triggered it.
