Recently went into restricted performance during normal driving a few days ago and also had a blinking CEL. The idle was very rough and reminded me of when one of the coil packs went out a year or two ago.
I purchased an iCarsoft i930 after reading some reviews here. It said specifically it would work for the X308 Jaguar.
Upon plugging it in, turning the key to the on position, and selecting OBD-2 Diagnose, this is what I see:
Thoughts? Seems like a nice reader but if it won't work with this car, I'll have to return it.
Also, when I started the car back up today, no CEL / no rough idle / no restricted performance. Weird...
yep reader looks nice but i had to return mine due to lack of compatibility, it has something to do with the software version, early works on earlier cars later does not, albeit mine was able to connect to ecu but was reporting unreadable data, so your case my be different.
for me foxwell has tendency to crash transmission module while performing initial scan, rather scary experience, but definitely did the job, in case of pianoman i would stick some cheap bluetooth obd there and see if it reads anything, that would eliminate possible issues with com link and may even bring up previous error
Thanks for the replies guys. I'll see about getting another reader and sorting through everything...hopefully won't cause any other issues in the process. Anyone else have a reader recommendation?

Hey, I may be a bit late here if you already shipped it back ; but this is the reader I have and it pretty much works.
You mention selecting "OBD2 diagnose" in your first post, which is not how I use it myself...
just select the first item (I'm not sure what the title is, but I think it's just "Diagnose"), which then allows your to select Jaguar or Land Rover ; then you select the year the car and you get another menu : "Automatic" or "Manual select".
Here I strongly recommend "Manual Select", which lets you enter each module (engine, trans, body...) individually and check the error codes and live data. The "automatic" will load ALL the freaking modules and it takes ages.
Mine works well, although yours seems to be a more recent version. However in my case, I can't get much information from the transmission module, or clearing the faults in the body processor, despite upgrading the software.
Did you get this to work or did you send it back? If so did you get a different one and is that any good.
I've just bought one and it does exactly the same thing, despite saying Jaguar (1994 -2016) on the box.
As someone said, you can do a plain diagnose, but not sure whether anything important might be missing not having the ODBII diagnosis.
if i remember well it is software update which messes the thing, early firmware works with early cars but later doesn't, and if i'm not mistaken there is no way to downgrade.
I have sent mine back after some fight with the resisting seller, bought foxwell instead which i didn't like so i sold it to forum member and then got mongoose clone which is quite pita but at least does the job, read ALL codes, programs things, brakes the car if you mistake and much more

Did yours do a plain "Diagnose" as opposed to the "OBDII diagnose? Mine does but not sure whether it would read all the modules/clear codes that I would ever need if it can't communicate with the ECU, engine light for example.
I haven't done a software update, but the seller has asked me to, but not sure whether I want to if there's a chance that might even **** up the plain diagnose. I thought that it would be straightforward to buy a reasonable scanner, but it appears not!
Yes it did some stuff but i bought it for reading airbag codes and it gave some hex code instead of specifying obd code so i couldn't figure which part failed, i think it also did some strange things with fuel trims and some other undesired stuff, i don't think it gonna get worst with update and if it don't do its job it is already newer firmware, so maybe you could try seller suggestion as long as he gonna accept return if you change your mind later.
Yeah me too i believed it gonna be nice handy little scanner and it is sad it wasn't.
Using a mirror, assure the pins in the OBD plug are straight and not bent; plug it in and go to position two (Accessory) in the ignition then follow the exact instructions to help it select the vehicle. Folks have had these work . . .
Yes it's compatible with our car I have one and it's working fine if you want something higher go with Nt644 elite I think 200$ on ebay take look on YouTube it has so many feature

i suspect Matt is not exactly informed about stuff he sells, but maybe things changed since then.
Foxwell is a bit bulky, has not very impressive build quality and would crash my gearbox with loud screech if connected while car running, did it twice so i sold it (on ebay not to a forum member) before it had a chance to mess anything else. other then that it did scan codes well but not all items in menu worked.
