Are Ignition coils swappable from 1999 XJR and 2000 XJR
Simple Question I have a 1999 could be a 1998 XJR that engine died and my other 2000 XJR needs an engine coil can I just swap them without issue I don't see any problem, but this forum knows all so might as well ask.
The North American 1999MY XJR is AJ26 as is the 1998MY XJR.
2000MY XJR up to 2003MY is AJ27.
The Normally Aspirated 1999 XJ8 is AJ27 (up to 2003MY) so the coils are completely different.
AJ26 = 2 pin
AJ27 = 4 pin
2000MY XJR up to 2003MY is AJ27.

Whats the essiest way to tell the difference from each engine?
I mean without removing a ignition coil is there anything different visually on the engine it self to tell the difference form one another? Like so I can know if it's an AJ26 or AJ27?

If it’s an AJ26/S, there will either be a large chrome or black vacuum container right next to the throttle body. If you still aren’t sure, just pull the ignition coil cover off and if it has 2 wires going to each coil, it’s a 26 engine. If it has 4 wires it’s a 27 engine. The above posters already mentioned this.
