Default Indicator audio signal

My 2002 XJR is suffering from an annoying little problem. When I turn on the indicators (right or left) sometimes the indicator audio signal comes at double the frequency. Normally this would indicate a broken bulb. But everything on the outside is working perfectly normal.

No error code. I have cleaned every ground connection. I have taken all the indicators apart, cleaned them, tried different bulbs. I checked every connector in the circuit. I have checked the wiring as much as I can. Visually for any chaffing and for continuity/shorts.

I had the BPM out, checked the connectors, opened it up and inspected the PCB, soldering and components.

It is intermittent too. About 50% of the time, both right and left.

Apart from some sort of problem with the BPM itself, anybody any suggestions what else I could try/check?

Jeroen

Maybe something with the turn signal lever/switch or related wiring, esp the steering wheel cassette cable? The problem sounds like continuity somewhere, maybe an internal BPM fault where it's getting a false reading on turn signal bulb impedance.
