Default Issue with my xj-8

Greetings all.

I have an issue with my 1999 Jaguar xj8 3.2 petrol automatic.

When selected into D, the car begins to drive fine. When I hit 30mph, the car jerks quite violently once, and then continues to drive fine.

If I select "2", nothing happens at 30. In "3", nothing happens at 30. In "4", the car jerks at 30mph again.

I'm guessing something with 4th gear in the box is on the way out. Any input as to what and how big a job this would be to sort.

Thanks in advance.

search for A Drum, circlip, failure, the ZF gearbox has a very well known problem. Your gearbox is likely on the way out.

zf 5HP24. There is a video on You Tube of someone overhauling their own.
In the US, it is about $3,000 to get one rebuilt and installed. Start saving up...
