Default Jaguar XJR supercharged No Crank

Hello ,

I purchased a Jaguar XJR 1999 a few months ago. I drove it a few times and then it sat for about 2 months . The next time I tried to start it up it wouldn't turn over. Bought a new battery ,checked fuses and relays still no crank. I disconnected the battery for over an hour and the alarm malfunction and no start remains. I am very unfamiliar with the car having just purchased it a few months ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated

If you have a second key, try it instead. You may have to have the key reprogrammed by a dealer or a qualified locksmith with the right computer capability. The key has a chip which is matched to a transponder in the ignition switch. These often lose their synchronization.

Default Me Too

I have also been chasing the 'no-crank'. My ongoing adventure is documented in the forum (No Crank Adventure). I don't have an exact cause yet, but press the button on your Fuel Cut-off Switch (mid way, right side of passenger firewall). Mine clicked when it shouldn't have. I have cleaned all my ground points, all positive cable junctions and the connections to the starter and starter solenoid. I also cleaned all the connectors involved with the Can bus. Also, is your Park light lit when you try to start? The Ecm and BPM has to know that the car is in Park or neutral before it will crank.

Default Additional Thought

Change out the starter relay. It is located in the ECM box. Second relay counting from the car's centerline.
