Thumbs up Journey from 'Write-Off' to 'Legal Leaper'

Hi fellow Jaguar Enthusiasts,

I thought I would take a moment to share the Journey I have been (and are still) on...

Back in in 2015, I decided to pull the trigger on purchasing my first Jaguar. I spent plenty of time researching on this Forum and stalking the classifieds before reaching the conclusion that I wanted to own an X308 XJR. After seeking some help and guidance on here, Cambo (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/members/cambo-95188/) was kind enough to offer to inspect my potential Jag for me (another big 'Thank You', mate). To cut a rather long story short, I purchased the vehicle in Sydney, Australia and drove it back home to the Gold Coast, where I drove it for all of about 4 weeks before the poor saloon was deemed unroadworthy...

So, after throwing my keys to my Dad (The man who started me on the pathway of loving motor vehicles, and in particular, Jaguars), I jumped in the passenger seat and we took her for a spin. My Brother was following us in his car and must have also found his licence in the bottom of a cereal box, because minutes into our drive, he decided to drive up the rear of the Jag.... Anyone want some diss-owned family members... A whole heap of insurance dramas later and I ended up being paid out for the Jag as well as also keeping the 'wreck'. All this took place back in 2015 and the car has been sitting in my driveway since...

I wanted to document my journey of getting her back to her former glory - partly for the musing of fellow Jag lovers and partly to possibly help others who might have to solve these problems in the future.

Below is my pretty clean example of a 2000 (or 2001 - I need to double check this), Jaguar X308 XJR with about 85,000Km on it

Back on the north side of Sydney there is a active member of the same 4 door sedan with the earlier inline 6 engine

But a lot of the car is the same
