1999 XJ8 VP 4.0 found the hose from the wiper loose with the end broken. Am I missing a fitting between the wiper and the hole in the cowl show to the left of the hose?

 

The plastic fitting (Tube Connector) is installed in the cowl. It is a 90 degree type fitting (turn and remove/replace) but you need to remove the plastic cowl to check the hoses and fittings under it.

I have three running sedans and two XKR convertibles so I keep a few 'in-stock' as replacements.

There's a little seal that sits under the elbow part, no1 the cover is very weak around the wiper hole, make sure to support it or it will break in two. Preferably leave on the car and lift.
No2 a good set of pliers, and twist from top and bottom to remove the old elbow, gentle install on the new. I've recently done this and there are fragility issues!
