Default Rear Parcel Shelf

Finally got tired of the sub not working so a few weeks ago I disassembled the rear seat and parcel shelf covering to get at the factory sub. Like everyone else's my entire foam surround was gone and the repair kit from speakerworks took care of that nicely. My speaker grille was pretty nasty so I opted to disassemble the shelf, cleaned it all up and painted the grill, basically all is ready to get reassembled at this point, but considering the PITA this stuff is to get apart I figured I'd ask if there is any clear benefit to applying some sound deadening to the metal shelf and/or under the back seat or seatback before I put it all back together. I have a goal of quieting my car down, I think I get more ambient noise inside than I should in a car that was this expensive when new. I have a box of sheets of self adhesive butyl sound deadening material handy, just wondering if there are specific areas I should apply it to for maximum effect while I have everything apart.

Thanks!

You shouldn't be getting any noise inside these cars. I often drive around without the radio on just to take in the silence and tightness of the ride.
