Just cleaned wheel speed sensors
I pulled each sensor on my XJ8, and cleaned them up. They were all filthy!
My question now is, how far do I drive it before the failure lights should reset if that's the problem?

I have cleaned my two front sensors, and it did not seem to solve this problem. I'm afraid that the problem is actually the bad / broken solder joint on the ABS module control board.
You can search the forums to find some information on this topic. There is one with some good pictures. This may be in the XK8 / XKR forum.
I have not yet taken the module apart and looked at it, but I'm pretty sure that I am looking at this as the true source of the problem.

Could be wrong but I believe if you have a code scanner that can read JAG specific codes (aka the dealer or autoenginuity) it should tell you if there has been a pump failure or wheel speed sensor.
