Hi Boys.

Yesterday my wife drove the Jag, and came to pick me up from work.She let the key in the ignition, but switched off engine.As she wanted me to drive back home, she came out, closed the drivers door, and went to the passenger side, but ...car was locked! no door could be open.How can this happen, moment the key was still in the ignition?
Had to go home with taxi, and get the second key , come back ,but i could only open the door manually by putting the key in the door, and not by using the remote.It diden't let me use the remote.After i open door, all was ok.
I don't get it, strange things..!Any one has an explanation?

 

Some newer cars are set-up to auto-lock when the doors are closed with the key in the ignition (for personal safety reasons). I've had other cars that did that. HOWEVER, they didn't do it with the key set to the LOCK position. They WOULD do it if the key were in the ON position.

Note to Costas' wife...NEVER leave the key in the ignition when you're outside the car!

 

I haven't tried it with my car yet, but my wife's car will lock itself after 30 seconds if the doors are not opened. Learned it the hard way, and ever since, I will only leave a key in the ignition if the window is down (on any car).
