Default More exciting performance news

Ok I know Avos is the man when it comes to the twin screw but sadly for us 98 to 00 cars there is no kit............................or is there LOL. I aquired a 2.6 kenny bell and my fab guy and I mocked up an intake elbow for the TB today and it looks VERY promising. I think with a lil work everything can be attached properly and when I get the blower settled in the engine I can order the proper length snout.

Now onto the REAL exciting news as you all WELL know getting air in and out of the engine is the key to REAL power. Well we already have options for 2.5 200 cell catted downpipes which I am sure help alot but thats not really the bottle neck. The real bottleneck is the exhaust manifold. Its crap to be blunt, so instead of reinventing the wheel (catted downpipes) Me and my buddy started mocking up a set of equal length stainless steel headers. they will be a bit tight but very doable. This will skyrocket torque an upper horsepower, but will also put less stress on the engine let it not work so hard. I dont have final prices but so far it looks like it will take about 2 to 3 weeks to make a set and I can have them coated at HPC which is located here in Utah but from what he said he can probably do them for us for under 900.00 a set. That is amazing for custom made stainless steel equal length headers.

I will probably do the headers on my car on a stock blower setup just to see the gains but going from the norm. The 03 cobra terminators had a similar manny as ours they get around 25 to 30 rwhp and the torque gain is even more impressive. But guess we will see what happens but I am guessing we will all be astounded to see the gains avaliable with a proper exhaust setup. This would include a 2.5 dual exhaust all the way out. I already have 2.5 exhaust with X-pipe from the cats back. Sounds soooo good like a ferrari or some other euro exotic

Also, I wonder if Lincoln LS headers might be an option as they look superior to the cast units on the Jag.

These are going to be longtubes and if you want no cats tht can be done and he can turn the code off in the ECU and still pass emissions

Is this a tune that can be loaded on a dashdaq or the like and be able to be flashed? that would be sweet. nice work on the upcoming upgrades.

I am not sure how it will work but if its like the audi then a board will be soldered on and we will be able to change chips just have to open the computer and install the new chip and send the other back. Thats how it worked with the audis and it was easy.

It seems camping with a Jaguar is the new in thing.

Will it come to life in meatspace as a Jaguar Jamboree?

I am *not* volunteering for latrine duty

Not sure about the differences in room between the XJR and XKR (though the latter is more cramped), I see that even a header like this could already be benificial (to some degree).

The stock headers from this 63AMG V8 seem somewhat similar to ours also in diameter, and kleeman claims with the above improvement from 47mm to 65mm id, 35hp (but that is also with sport cats and exhaust...)

If you need any pictures/measurements for the long headers also to fit an XKR, please let me know.

Here is the link bytheway (and see that the 35hp is the header & catalyst combined):

The stock Lincoln LS headers are also tubular like this.

ah, but are they big bore, like those? are they cast iron like the Jag? reason I ask is if fabricated like those ones, the flanges could be used.

I wish you the best of luck with the project. Please keep us informed as the headers seem like a good idea. I might like those along with the cams Avos has. Do you have any photos yet ???

not yet we just took a stock manny off the old 98 out back and he laser cut the flanges already. But Now come the fun part trying to get them in the engine bay, we may end up doing something like the headers above with the amount of room but still trying for a nice set of long tubes.

Is back pressure important when it comes to supercharged cars?

The LS headers look stainless steel.

Back pressure IS important on the Supercharger vehicle and even more important on a Naturally aspirated car, because the NA has greater overlap.
For the S/C vehicle I would aim for a system that reduces the back pressure down to around 400-500 mbar while keeping the overall noise level the same.
For the exhaust manifolding the ideal is NOT a log but a split log that seperates out cylinders that fire. I would group up cylinders which fire every 270 degrees. The AJ33 does this but for the S/C variant they couldnt fit it and they just needed big sections.

Manufacturers need to think about rapid catalyst light off- we don't - so we can do alot better.
