Default Most annoying thing about your X308

I know I have stole this from the X100 forums. But what is the most annoying thing about the/your X308. Mine has to be my knee hitting the boot switch when getting in the car.

I second that one. Happens all the time.

A close runner-up: the damn clunking or rattles in the front suspension, no matter how many things I replace!

Oh wait, maybe it's the placement of the parking brake handle that digs into my thigh on long drives unless I raise the front of the seat high enough to sit more level.

Yeah, that's about it. Trivial things, really.

I am 6' tall and my knee quite often triggers the windshield wiper control arm.

This is not as much of an annoyance as the list of vehicle-specific mechanical issues I have encountered since purchasing this car.

I have none of the above mentioned issues, perhaps cause I am slightly smaller.
I have to think hard and deep, but can't really come up with anything annoying or negative on this car.
Maybe the high road taxes here for high displacement cars, but can't really blame the car for this ...

Ok, one, the steel sunroof, should be nice if it was tinted glass...

The glass sunroof Murano swap *might* be possible, I saw one at the junkyard and at a glance they look like it might work. Unfortunately I didn't have a tape measure or my torx bits on me to try and stick it in the nearby x308, but I'll go back for that later.

Most annoying, hmm... I could go on forever, but I'll leave out the things that I just haven't got to fixing yet. That front susp clunk is one, I'm thinking those poly shock bushings really are all that bad, but I can't spend the money on foam ones now. Or that damn belt squeal which won't go away, even after new belts and pulleys. Or the strange clicking I get underneath the front end when warm which I can't source. Or that outer bit of wiper blade which hangs off and then smears dirt across that outer edge of the windshield.

Probably what I'm most annoyed by is needing to pull the cooling fan assy just to take out belts. And belts need to be pulled for quite a lot of things. I've hung the fan connector in an easier to reach place, and can probably take the fans out with my eyes closed now. And that the steering wheel doesn't extend out (further front the dash) more than it does.

Just the fact that is now 17 years old, every bit of plastic, vinyl and rubber is succumbing to age. Been shopping for a new mid-sized sedan and I can't find a suitable modern replacement for the 308.

Hate to beat a dead horse, but nearly non-existent dead pedal. The original engineers must have thought that we all have much longer left legs than right ones.

Emergency brake lever in my right thigh. What have any of you done to solve this problem?

Angry No contest

Hands down, not even close to whatever's in second place: transmission.

Jaguar Cars and ZF Transmissions should be embarrassed to tears by this complete Cluster-F of a design deficiency. If it had been a Honda, the local dealership would have given me a loaner for the complete time it took to replace/repair the trans, at company expense, regardless of the fact that I'm the 2nd owner of a 15 year old car. Over 100k miles? Okay, maybe I don't get the free car wash.

Only thing I could do - I raised the front of the seat high enough to make it nearly level with the handle, and got used to a slightly different driving position. I usually only do it on trips longer than an hour though. Anything less than that, I can generally put up with it. But going cross-country, yeah, it's painful.

Roll up your sleeves and move it to the other side of the tunnel ... (not my car).

Move it to the other side....hmm....I like it. I also wondered about tilting it down somehow. No need for the handle to be up as high as it is, I've certainly never used it. I'll look into those ideas.

I've never had a problem with the hand brake sticking into me, I find it's ideally located. I like the retro fact that the XK's had it on the door side though. I'm 6ft exactly and average (UK) build, I find the X308 fits me like a glove. I've never bumped bits of me on switches or struggled to get comfortable. I remember reading a quote from Geoff Lawson saying "I wanted to create a car that allowed you to arrive at your destination feeling relaxed and refreshed..." and to be honest, that's exactly what it does.

I've mentioned this in another similar post, but one of the few things that annoys me is the exterior door handles. I think they should be countersunk into the panel, instead of plonked on as an afterthought.
I think the foot wells should be illuminated with the interior lights.
I've also always felt the mirrors are slightly too big for the car's design, they could do with being just a snip shorter IMO.
Lastly, the single wiper seems a bit silly to me. I'm sure a pair of wipers could've been developed. The arm mounted sprayer is useless so I've retrofitted X300 scuttle mounted washers to mine.
But I'm willing to forgive these small blemishes as the rest of the car is simply perfection.

Car comes with 370bhp and a weak open differential. Lack of traction to me = annoying. I fixed that but still a pest to most

Does anyone else find that the front cup holders are crap? Might be that my car came with the special weight saving option to only retain a cup less than 6oz or it will be flipping into the passenger seat

With that being said, still adore my car....most days

most annoying thing...for someone 6' or taller, the bottom of the seat isn't long enough to support properly nor does the driver seat sit far enough down that I don't occasionally feel my hair brush the headliner on big bumps.

So So true, cannot believe this didn't come to mind! I'm 6' and when i'm in a helmet autox'ing or at the track my head is cockeyed and planted into the headliner
