My 1999 Jaguar XJ8 V8 doesn't accelerate right?
I got a 1999 Jaguar XJ8 V8, When i accelerate it doesnt accelerate right i need to start at 10-15Mph and it slowly goes faster and when i stop on a intersection i cant go faster then 15Mph. When i press it to go up to 30 it starts slowing down and shaking and making a muffed sound when i release the gas its ok again, So i have to start off at a slow speed.
I cant just go to 30 ot 60Mph i have to start of slow because if i press it to go fast it will slow down and make a muffed sound and shake.

above the radio there is a trac off buttom.........try turning that off.......if the red light comes on it means its off.......i had a similar problem that the car woud stall when i accelerate and this stopped that problem.......
Good suggestion Jagster - if that fixes the issue then indeed you have a failed traction-control sensor

Someone told me it was a master sensor or something like that and where is that
Hi Guys, My name is mark. I have a 2001 XJ8. Recently I decided to refresh the cat. I had a very similar problem and ended up trailering the car home. I followed all of the great input in several threads here and now the car is running very well. The solution started with a can of Berrymans and a good cleaning of every electrical connection related to the engine I could find. Then a good cleaning of th Mass Airflow Sensor. I also verifued the cleanliness and connection of the Cam Position Sensor connections. I am no longer limping but instead losing traction during acceleration!!! Yippee!! One isse remains I have a hard ASC traction controll and ABS not available.. I will be cleaning allthe connections there next. If all goes well will pass California smog very soon(Must have zero codes) Presently all codes are clear. We'll see how long they stay gone.
