So my 99 XJR was at an upholstery shop overnight and during the night my car was placed on blocks and the wheels and tires were stolen. I need to get my car home and have an non-running 99 XJ8 VANDEN PLAS that I can just take the wheels off long enough to get the car home. I know the tires on the XJR are 255/40 ZR 18 and the wheels on the VDP are 255/60 ZR 16. Will the tires fit well enough to make the drive home.

I will be getting new wheels and tires from the insurance payment but that will take some time to get the wheels and tires that I want and need to get the car home where it will not get vandalized anymore.

Wow that sucks. Was it parked in their lot? I hate thieves.

Unless you have an R1 brake package I don't see why it wouldn't work. Good Luck.

 

16" Xj8 wheels will NOT fit over the front XJR brakes, even without the Brembos.

 

So it wont work, OK, thanks to bad....My car was in their fenced and gated parking lot. They have footage of someone hopping the fence and opening the gate from the inside and let an SUV in...but the surveillance camera is so bad you can barely make out the shape of the person and the SUV so it really is no help.

But FYI I am getting $4300 from the insurance company for new tires and wheels. So its not turning out too bad....

 

Is that the shops insurance?

There's always the new wheels to look forward to. :-)

 

With that kind of cash, you could buy a set of BBS Montreals (XJR-100 wheels)
, and a set of Michel Pilot Super-sports!

Too bad you had your wheels stolen. Hope the insurance claims process

Is their Insurance paying you? It should. Its their responsibility.
