Default Need help P1637, 1720

Here's the background- replaced both fuel pumps, they work great. Tried to fix my ABS, but damaged the board. Installed the same p/n ABS module from my XJ8.
Went for a drive, ABS, check engine, trac, stability, all the usual messages. Brake warning light on too.

Worst, the speedo doesn't work, the transmission won't shift out of 2nd, the cruise is inhibited. Also trip computer errors.

Seems like a can bus issue, checked all the buses, relays, fuses, but can't get rid of this.

Ideas?

Update- it turns out it is the module from my XJ8, although it is the exact same part number. It just doesn't like it, makes no sense.
JTIS EPC only shows one part number for traction control equipped cars.
Very strange.

Oh, BTW, the JTIS price is $5428.98.

It's one of the modules that requires IDS/WDS diagnostics to key. Each are programmed to the car. Can you salvage the original or is there a dealers around that can do a reprogram?

OMG, really? What the hell, why can't I just plug a module in and have it work?

BTW, I broke off a surface mount device, it's either a cap or resistor, in the LH wheel speed circuit. If I could figure out what it was, and replace it, I'd be ok.

Thanks Jim. I may go that route, but the car is undriveable without the module, making a straight replacement more convenient, unless of course I have to reprogram the car to take it.

I wonder if the Autoenginuity would work?

Hi Rob
If the board is damaged then it may not able to be fixed.
Probably your best option might be to try to find a repair shop who will come out and knows how to do the programming that Sean B mentioned.

I had my abs module work done by the mechanic that I normally use, he removed, repaired and reinstalled the module - took an hour and half and charged me $90.

My plan is to hit up a local electronics repair outfit. I think they can reverse engineer it, by removing a matching component from another wheel channel and measuring it to see what it is. If it wasn't surface mount, I'd have done it myself. I did board repairs on aircraft radios for years.

I replaced the abs in my 97 XK8 with a matching number and it did not need a refresh, but It appears that you often can't get away with that in newer models.

I had a brainstorm today. I resoldered the pump connections and took it for a long drive, and all is well. I had a good look at the board, and the pin numbers, and figured that the component damaged was a filter capacitor between the pin and ground.
Having it missing isn't ideal, but I know from years of board repair that it's not critical.
