Hello. My name is Dwight and I'm 62. Thank you very much for allowing me on your forum. I thought I already made a post but I don't see it. So I hope not. I want to buy a very nice dark blue 02 xj8 from my good friend but only if I can get it started. It will be my third jaguar. It is in great condition. I have read every post on here probably twice, about no start conditions. I have a no spark issue that I believe is related to the security system. Ckps and ecm have been changed. Everything electric works. Key fob looks door. Red light starts to blink on shift panel. Unlocks. Turns over. Already has borewash from no spark. I can fix the borewash but not until I get spark. Correct? Would the exciter ring let the car turn over but not start. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you.
L
Welcome Dwight, ....3rd Jag and this is your first trip here...wow, the others must have been very good to you.
Btw....here's your other post... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...r-ring-244884/
...to find your posts simply go to the task bar at the top of this forum and you'll see Quick Links in the middle with a drop down. Prompt it and you'll see Subscribed Threads (threads you've made or tagged yourself to) and prompt it and your list of posts will appear.
One thing you may want to check is your CPS (crank positioning sensor). If its dirty or the wire is damaged, it won't send a signal to the ECM and create a no start condition. Try cleaning it off and check the wire condition, possible road debris hitting the wires and check the connector.
Also, at the top of this forum are Stickies and the "How To" section is a great source, though many of the old links need specified for quicker reference. But many are titled to the subject they represent. JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource ...don't forget to browse the TSB and Major Repair ones also.
Just a word of warning...the site Search can be a bit, ...well... crappy is the best I can describe it. I've literally looked for an exact title of a thread and it didn't find it. But you want to give it a go anyways, its not always wrong. But if you still can't find what you need, just ask...some member will respond in kind.
