New Jag owner
Just purchased my first Jaguar at a auction Saturday and WoW what a car.
1998 XJ8 VP, now my question is this, you can not hear the motor run its very quite and looks brand new even though the car has 120K on it. On the front under the hood is a sticker with a dealer number on it and says authorized modifications 9-22-99 s819/s471 can some one tell me what that means and were the engine number is located.
Thanks
Love my Jag

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Jaguar! And to the forum.
Those are Service Actions, basically little recalls. S819 was to reflash the ECM for engine misfire detection. S471 was a Cold Start reflash. Nothing to be concerned about.
The engine serial is almost impossible to read in place. Call a dealer and they can provide it from a VIN lookup.
I would suggest that you check out the FAQ sticky on the XK8/R version of this forum. It has everything you ever wanted to know about you new car. You might want to specifically read the 'Tensioner' section.
