No Kick down on XJ8

I have XJ8 1998 model - the problem is when i hit the pedal at 50mph the car will not kick down a gear or accelerate as it used to - if use the gear stick and go down the gears the car kicks down and acclerates as it should. Can anyone help and explain what may be the problem? Is there a electronic switch or something similar that may need replacing ?

Hi ho Rish,

How many miles on your XJ8? Perhaps the transmission filter and fluid needs changing.

Rish's question was from 2009, six years ago! I think he either found the kickdown switch under the accelerator pedal or moved on to something else by now.
