Default No odometer trip scrolling.

O.K now on to my nxt issues with this 98 xj8. The odometer only tells the mileage. It is supposed to scroll to mpg, trip, and other settings by pushing the end of the turn signal lever isn't it? It does nothing, everything elsr in the interior seems to work perfectly ecxept the cig lighter in the center console, it has the illumination ring that works but no power.Could these be linked to the same fuse by chance?
Again I appreciate any help offered.

I find it hard to believe that nobody here has any dea about the functions of the odometer.
Maybe it is supposed to be just the mileage, and that button is there for looks.

Don't get tetchy! I expect most people press the button and hey presto it works, if it doesn't it's a job for the dealer or an auto spark.

I was just being sarcastic not tetchy (I'm guessing that mean upset or grouchy, mad?)
I was hoping someone know an easy fix for it.
Thanks
