Ok this is it I think I got it
Not sure about the XJR but the XKR changed from the 4.0L to the 4.2L engine in '03 along with a better transmission and numerous other upgrades. My '02 came with the plastic tensioners also where an '03 certainly would have been metal.
I would buy the '03 for the miles alone.

If the condition and history of the cars are about equal, I'd go with the 03. You'd have the metal tensioners and it's the last model year of the X308. Having an XJR100 is a big deal to some but isn't important to me. Personally, I don't care much for the color of the wood dash in the 100's.
+1 03. One year newer and fewer miles is always a better buy. By 03 almost all design issues have been addressed and the plastic and headliners are probably not yet crumbling. If both are SoCal cars, the rust and corrosion should be minimal.
But either could be a good buy, albeit, over priced unless fully service documented and absolutely pristine. IMHO.

Thank you guys ,
I was told all XJR100 have the metal tensioner , am I wrong ? The car was built 11/01

Thank you , that would have been a deal breaker . The 03 has after market wheels they are called BBS and were an option that cost 4500 .
Also the 03 has 57 k not 51 so close to to the 60 k service

In England they stopped production in spring 2002 and started making the X350 saloons replacing the X308's - so the difference is months, not years, and being honest here, not many revisions exist between post August 01 and 02 models, USA would be 02/03.
I'm biased towards the 100, obviously!
