Default Ongoing body and bumper work

Stopped by the body shop today just to wander around and look.

Yeah...looking good.

New metal welded in, acid etch primed, sills and channels soaked in wax rustproofing (waxoyl)

Rear window out, again, taken back to bare metal, acid etch, no more rust.

Lots of dust. Body shops are not the cleanest places. But, will get washed down, floor hosed down...and the final job will be ok.

As Dave, my body guy said...at least she's never been rolled. Headliner out at interior trimmer to be redone.

Front bumper sanded back, nits and chips filled...will look nice when done.

So far, so good. Is it worth the investment? For me, yes.

Got to do both the arches on my XJR later on this year, for the time being I have just bodged the drivers side arch with a bit of filler.

Just to tart it up a bit for the run to Brighton, the local paint factors done a superb job of putting the right colour in a rattle can for me.

I know its a bodge, but I just do not have the time until later in the year to weld new metal in.

Nope. Not going for that look; still will have dings in the door (can't get the PDR guy lined up...) and some various scratches and 'patina'. But, the underbody is clean, engine running well, o/h'd tranny...what's not to like. Just biding my time till the new XE comes out...

Those guys are doing what's looking like a very good job! I can say "been there done that" but in a very different way.

No jaguar of that age has to be perfect bodywise, as long as it is free of rust and the paint matches up you're a winner in my book.

Thanks, Nick. Your work looks great, also. Matched the paint with computer scanner; should be ok, I think. Only a trained eye will be able, I think, to catch the feathering in of the repaired parts. Important thing, as you say, is free of rust (and that the rear window was out and allowed the headliner to be removed to be redone is a bonus)
