Default P0174 Code (2000 XJ8)

Would really appreciate some feedback please. Showing a code of P0174, an upstream sensor (likely) I’ve been told. Looking down the engine on the passenger side, I see two sensors one above the other. I followed the wire leading from the lower sensor and it attached to a black plug. I then followed the wire leading from the upper sensor and it attached to a gray plug. I really hope the sensor that needs to be replaced is the upper as it is so easily within reach. Thank you for your feedback.

Are there other DTCs besides P0714 stored in the system?

Before replacing the oxygen sensor(s), check for vacuum leaks on Bank 2. Has any work been recently done to the inlet manifold or that side of the engine?

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X308 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Thank you for your response. No other work has been done to that side of the engine. I had some other codes appear relating to the car missing. I have since replaced all plugs and coils and those issues are resolved. You can see the list of codes that originally appeared.

P0174 does not refer to upstream (front) O2 sensor.

When I had a P0174 error code (System too lean Bank Two) it turned out to be an early warning that my fuel pump was failing.

Several weeks later, it was proved to be correct!

Default Oh wow

After watching some videos and reading some threads I’m going to run the engine and feel around the hoses to determine first if I may have a air leak. Let’s hope it’s that easy
