Okay, so this isn't specific to the X308 platform, or Jaguar at all, however, the paint on my car is a bit... Well, not great. I have a few rust spots above the rear bumper, and on the right rear quarter panel, as well as chips and scratches all over. To have the car professionally repainted is big bucks, more than the value of the car actually, to buy the stuff from a local auto body supply store it's about $1400, two quarts of their best base cost are over $500 (About $260 a QUART!) So, I am shopping online, and I can buy some paint at about $100 a quart, but they do not have the same Carnival red (CGG) they offer British Racing Green, Burgundy Metallic, Candy Apple Red Met. Aqua Pearl Met. Celery Green Met. Dark Cherry Met. Emerald Green Met. Fathom Green Met. Frost Blue Met. Merlot Met. and Sapphire Blue Met. (These are just the ones I like)
My question is, what do you guys think would be the most.... Ah, how do you say... LOOK AT ME colour? Also, what do you guys think would be the easiest to keep looking good?
I've noticed a great affinity to British Racing Green from my car admirers.
Multiple quotes to the effect of being the best color for our era Jags,...
It's really personal preference, but I like the high gloss rich dark colors.
My 2nd choice would be the Black Metallic.
3rd choice would be to go for a mixture. I like the idea of mixing Chestnut Brown Metallic and Champagne Gold Metallic. 2:1 or so, but you'd have to contact the company for information on that. Perhaps they'd even mix it for you or provide you a sample.
To directly answer your question, in my opinion, the best color is what I call 'Arrest Me Red' or the Carnival Red.
A better answer is to never change the original color. Changing the color is 4 times the work of a respray.
And don't forget the clear coat. That's where all the shine is.
I tend to agree, I love the Carnival Red, however, to respray the whole car (It doesn't 100% NEED it, but there are so many chips and scratches, you'd never be able to touch them all up) but it is one expensive colour for some reason. And I am not sure if for the prices I am seeing if it is a one pearl or a two pearl.
Go back with the original color. Getting the engine compartment right after a color change is a HUGE task unless the engine is out. Black always shows defects, but is
pretty for the first week or two. Silver and Champagne are my favorites if the car
left Coventry that way.
Agree: stay with original color for all the reasons noted, engine bay, boot interior, door jams. That said, Carnival Red is very pretty . . . I have had anthracite and BRG on the two units I owned -- anthracite stood out more.
+1 with everyone declaring to stay with the original color. Plus, once you put the new layer on her, she'll look like a prime woman in stiletto's and a short skirt.
