Default Passenger airbag

Hello, I'm the proud owner of a 2001 XJ. However, I'm now also the proud owner of a two week old boy! As you can imagine cash is a bit tight at the moment and switching cars not really an option. The rear seats are pretty much impossible to get a car seat for, so it seems for now the only option is to disable/remove the front passenger airbag and put him there. Is this possible? I'm no mechanic so happy to take to a jag garage if this can be done (although if not too technically difficult I'm happy to do myself).

Apologies if this is a daft question but handbook and a good old Google search haven't been of any help.

Cheers!

I posted many TSBs in the download area.
Here are some to consider. There is a side airbag in the front seat so be aware of that!!!!!!!!!!! There are also belt 'pretensioners' that must be considered also.

The airbag de-activation is for the XK but the idea should be the same. I don't know if someone will want to disable due to liability.

The rear seat tether system is the preferred method.
