Default Pillar pod in XJR

i found a pillar that will work for the XJR however it only comes in black. i was wondering if any Jag techs could help me with getting paint or material to paint the pillar so it wont look tacky.

In the past I have taken my paint and interior codes into an automotive paint shop and had them mix the paint for me on the spot. They will even put it into an aerosol can for you. If it is plastic make sure to get the plastic paint adhesive promoter. You simply spray it on and let it dry prior to painting with color. Works great.

There are a couple ways to get the correct paint.

Autoparts stores sell the brand VHT which makes automotive paints and interior colors. The can will indicate if it is for interior plastics. You may have a difficult time finding the interior color to match a Jag, but the big three US manufacturers are well represented.

The other way is to find an Auto paint retailer who has access to look up your VIN and interior paint codes. He will then be able to mix what you want and should be able to package it into an aerosol can for your use.

If you're in Delaware give Finishmaster in Wilmington a call at 302) 658-4070. They will be able to at least match your interior color with a chip and sell you the correct paint. Remember there are about 10 different interior colors in any one car so get the chip ring and go out to your car and match the pillar post with the color chip closest to your pillar color. Make sure to clean the plastic and use adhesive promoter on the plastic. Also, only use three coats of paint, any more than that and it will not adhere as well, don't ask.

BTW, I have done this twice with my truck and it worked out great. I live in Northern California though and my paint supplier has the ability to mix what I want anytime...
