Default Programming fob

Ok...I have at least 5 different instructions for programming the fob for my 1998 Jag XJ8. They are all very, very similar, with few changes. I can get my car to the "learning" stage (red light on console lights, & a beep sounds, telling me all is well with the car...now program!!).

But I cannot get the fob to activate anything, nor does any beep sound nor does the red light come on. And...nothing works. This is my second fob, as they said I had the wrong one, & we checked & ordered the one that was supposed to be for my car.

Oh...the batteries are brand new, & I have cleaned the contacts inside.

Any help or suggestions?? Thanks...Bob

The remotes I got of EBAY are 4 button no red light.
FCC K8597T315 LJA2610AA 315 MHz .

Sometimes its is hard to do. The thing about doing 5 setup with one or how many remotes you have does and does not apply.
When I got my second remote went thru sequence red light on shifter did it twice cleared the program mode and they both worked fine.

Note: take your remote to autozone or parts store that has remote tester and batteries and check remote for response with their tester.

Good luck.

Default fob programmin

Thanks to all for great suggestions. I'm going to keep at this until it works, right!! My fob # is LJA2610AA, & FAA ID K8597T315. My car is a '98 XJ8. The supplier, Allkeylez has been very gracious, this is the 2nd one they've sent as they said the first one was the wrong code for my car, & have offered to take this one back...if this is the wrong code, perhaps they have the right one. Anyway, any help? Thanks for all the assistance...This is great, & I look forward to helping others down the road. Bob

If you are still having problems, take it to a parts store that has the remote tester and see if it responds to your remote. If so keep trying the part number seems right for the 1998 XJ8. Good luck
