Default Pulled Driver side Valve Cover to Find

I was really curious. I wanted an idea on the condition of my chains and tensioners. It took a total of 15 minutes to remove, 5 minutes gauking and probing, 15 minutes to reassemble.

First, my 2000 XJ8, with 26,330 miles, has off White tensioner assemblies. In pictures, I have seen Red tensioner assemblies. So, I am assuming that I have Generation II tensioner assemblies.

Second, the cam to cam chain was really tight. Therefore, I am assuming that the chain and hydraulic check system is working correctly.

All in all, I am scheduling the next check, on the other bank for the 50,000 checkup.

I pulled the cover before changine the oil for the 25,000 service.

NAPA Gold Filter, Mobil1 0W-40 oil.

Comments please.

Good plan for the tensioners. Most problems tend to occur around the 70k mark. I would keep my eye on them, too.
