Random Electronic Issues
I searched and read various threads and so far cannot see any with this random set of symptoms. I have owned my 2000 XJR since 2007. Until this round of electronic issues, she has only needed rubber parts! Bushings, hoses etc. Then came the battery drain... The first round of battery drain was resolved with a new alternator. I also bought a new battery (AZ heat KILLS them!). So both of those items are new.
These are the things going on, I am not sure if related or just a random string of same timed failures:
Ideas?
These are the things going on, I am not sure if related or just a random string of same timed failures:
- If I don't put the charger on each night she may or may not start in the morning.
- The sunroof sometimes won't stay open and just decides to close
- The "clicker" noise of the turn signal works sometimes. Totally random... The "snapple cap" clicks then stops then starts then doesn't work the rest of the drive. TOTALLY random.
- The front passenger door lock is not in sequence with the rest of the doors.
- The 'kneeling mirror' is not working. Put the car in reverse/select right mirror and it is not moving at all any more
- Driver window is inoperable **I actually think this is not related, but thought I would mention. LOL
Ideas?
Do you have any corrosion on the terminal wires? If so, it/they need to be replaced, you will not get the corrosion off as it will be ingrained down in the shielding. This will cause your battery to not get a full charge. It will also create issues as you've stated.
Check the grounding lanyard coming off the negative battery terminal, they can go bad.
For either of these scenarios, if they exist, have your battery tested. They could have killed a cell. Look for swelling and feel for warmth around the battery.
Review the pdf's I attached as well.
