My R Rear Reading Light Cover Fell Off & I searched for a how to video or description on how exactly to reattach. No luck but I somewhat replaced it & do not plan to use the switch. I never used it b4 in 25 years ownership & any time I turned it on, it was accidental.

The top moveable portion of the rear reading light is turned on by pushing on the top end of the cover which “rocks.”
The larger, lower part of the light (each has separate bulb) is automatic & turns on when open a door & off when start the car.

When I noticed the cover off 2 days ago, it was at night. I was not able to fit the cover back into place even though it did not really look broken. I was able to activate the push switch to turn that light off. That thin rectangular shaped push 'button', which is also at the very top of the reading light housing. There is also a thin metal rod/spring that allows the rocking action of the top portion of the cover to act as a switch.



Today, in broad daylight, I took several photos; 4 of the cover, and 2 of the light fixture itself.
Looking carefully at the cover, it appears that one side of one of the U-shaped plastic clips is partially broken.I decided to try to refit the cover again and with my first try, it fell right off. With my second try, it seems to be holding so I'm going to leave it. I did not try to activate the switch since I think that may make it fall off.

I don't think I have that metal spring clip in the correct position.

Can see the light itself has the spring rod… In this case I had moved it where it's on an angle blocking the center, but I think I ended up pushing it back on the side before I fitted the cover back on. Note the top small push switch.
