they only come halfway-ish........

look at the shape of the rear door and the way the wheel arch cuts in - the only way the glass could go down all the way is if it rotated as it dropped, not possible.

 

so Sean, all X308 rear windows will not go all way down ! always something to learn from owning a Jag

 

This is as far as the rear windows go down.

 

In late 60's GM cars the rear windows would go all the way down, but most made in the early 70's couldn't.

I always figured it was because they were afraid of being sued.

Did any of the earlier XJ models have rear side windows that went all the way down?
