Default Recall sticker on drivers door hinge

I have a 1999 Jag Sovereign x308 and just saw a sticker on the drivers door hinge area saying "DO NOT REMOVE" with a date and recall number... the date was april 2004 or so. There is a number there on the sticker also and was wondering if i can use this number to see what the recall was about.
I m hooping the recall sticker implies that i have steel liners in the block and not nikasil liners!..
help much appreciated.

best regards
Peter

A call with you VINumber and the recall number to the local Jaguar dealer will answer all your questions. The only recall notice affixed to a door pillar I have personally seen is for a throttle body replacement on the AJ26 engine. Your '99 most likely has an AJ27 engine . . . with Nikasil. Consensus appears to be that an undamaged Nikasil engine is preferable to a steel sleeve one.

from what i understand if your Nikasil lined engine hasn't failed in the first few years (before the sulfer additive that was is the fuels back then was removed, has not failed), its safe to say that it won't fail from the liners. I would make sure my secondary tensioners are good and you will run that engine to 300K or more with the Nikasil liners. Recalls on xj8 to my knowledge from the forum were for the throttle body in 98 and 99 engines.

Edit: another way to see if your throttle body was recalled is to look at the TB itself. You should find a sticker affixed to the TB on passenger side if it was replaced.
