Redyeing leather seats in 99 XJ8
Driver seat in my 99 XJ8 had a hard life. Leather was badly worn, cushion torn on underside in a couple of places and seat motor gearboxes for two functions were broken with the plastic gears missing.
I bought a replacement seat from a Florida Salvage yard. Had given them trim code which is AGD on my car, but seat they sent is more tan and noticeably different shade fro the Oatmeal. Front passenger seat looks like a "before" photo for a leatherique ad.
I am thinking about redying the fronts with World Upholstery dye. Can dye be stripped off with a solvent?
Anyone done a dye job before? I want to apply conditioner to soften the leather and wanted to know whether to condition or dye first? Is there a How to Post on dying seats?
