Remote for 01 XJ8

Default Remote for 01 XJ8
I replaced the battery in my remote and now it does not work at all. Is there a way to reprogram my remote without taking it into the dealership?

make sure that the battery is in the right position.. if programming... set key to position one then pull hi beams 4 times ... then you will hear a chime.. then press unlock button on remote.. hear a chime.. then press unlock button on second remote then chime.. then start car.. you will hear a confirmation chime
