removal of the Catalyst convertors
Hi All
I have a 1999 XJ8 (X308) 3.2 V8 and in mid stream of doing some major overhaul work on it, having removed the entire exhaust system today I can see that both Cats are corroded at the bottom with holes in them. I have no choice other than to replace and have located two new ones on eBay .
My dilemma is removal, I can see all 4 retaining studs on the drivers side and get access to them to undo with a bit of perseverance, but I cannot get direct access to the studs on the passenger side , in fact I can hardly see them looking down through the engine bay.
Can anyone guide me on the easiest way to remove the passenger side Cat? any advice, instructions would be really appreciated
Thanks in advance
Ade

Prompt the "How To" link in my sig and go to my thread on O2 sensor replacement. Mine is a 4.0L, but should be similar. I wrote it earlier this year and may have stated about the driver and passenger sides, just reverse them for you.
