2003 XJ8....do the emblems just pop off the trunk or are there screws on the inside? Thank you!

 

They're glued on. The visible part is glued into a backing piece which from memory is also glued onto the boot lid. Nylon fishing line pulled behind the pieces is the stuff to break the adhesive, or else you could use a plastic lever.
