Replaced Rear Wheel Bearings
Just replaced the rear wheel bearings on my 00' XJR. The car had developed a "roaring" noise in the rear, so I decided to take a look. I found that the driver side wheel had a excessive play vertically, but just a little horizontally.
The outer bearing was shot and full of metal debris/shaving. It appears that the seal failed at some point and allowed junk to enter the bearing.
The job itself was not difficult, but you'll need access to a press and a set of bearing hub tools.
I did manage to break the abs ring during the install and had to order another one, but very pleased with the overall results.
If anyone needs help give me a shout.

Just watch putting it back together. It's not like a Corvette where you have to adjust the preload with shims and take it apart several times to get it right. Just watch how it comes apart and follow the procedure on here putting it back together.
