buy a JTIS manual for about $20-30 from electronicmanuals.co.uk (or something like that)..... this will help, especially for torque specs, etc. If you have problems, chime back in. I assume you mean the cam cover gaskets. I've done this a couple of times in the past few months (98 xjr) - probably similar procedure for a 99 -- you might as well replace the spark plug boss seals while you have the cam cover off.
You detach the wiring harness from the covers. Remove breather hoses and intake boot. Remove all the 10mm bolts and on drivers side, remove the 8mm first holding the dipstick in place. Then the 10mm beneath it. The 10s will not come all the way out. Also remove the coils, but not the plugs. They are held in with 7mm bolts under the coil covers also held in by 7mm bolts. Very easy job.

you are just amazing sir
if your 1999 car has the top mounted VVT solenoids on the cam covers,( AJ27 engine ) it will be wise to change those as well, especially if the are seeping at the moment
two sets of cam cover seals are available, the early sets for the AJ26 engine use a joined spark-plug/bolt seal, the later ones on the AJ27 engine use seperate seals
yours being a 1999 car should be an AJ27 , but being in the states might make a difference, so i would go to your local dealers and do a check on the engine number before buying them
a picture of the head on an AJ27 car is below

btw, getting the oil dipstick off can be a bit of a pig, below is my modification so the whole tube does not need to be pulled from the block

the mount to the right of the tube needs to be ' dremmeled ' out while the cam cover i still in place, but the top fixing for the tube has been removed, a 'C ' shape is cut in to allow it to be pulled to one side, ,
when put back together the washer covers this opening and no one would ever know it had been done
