Hi Guys-
Posting this again. I hope someone knows the answer to this-
I've replaced the heater hoses or at least the ones that I've seen called the 'spider'.
Before I connect with last connector, I just want to make sure I understand what I'm looking at.
The photo with the red circle shows the connector on the passenger side of the engine bay just underneath the throttle body.
I put the hose assembly in and connected everything else, but there is a green plastic 'ring' on this connector that was not on the original.
I had to destroy the original one to get it off the metal tube that bolts to the side of the throttle body.
Is this ring supposed to be there or is it something that gets removed and then discarded?
Thanks-

Does this green semi-ring need to stay on the hose coupler or does it need to be removed? I've not pushed the connector completely together yet- I found the problem-
I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Is there something on this connector that needs to rotate or something?
I've put the connector on and it slides on about an inch and a half (3.8cm).
I can see the ridge on the pipe go into the connector, but it does not couple because I can pull it straight off.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
-Thanks-

Clean the pipe up and then push the hose on as far as possible. Then pull the front section out towards the front of the car (IIRC). It should then clip into place.
If the pipe is rather corroded, it will be a hard fit.
I was in the same situation. I finally gave up on trying get it to click onto that ridge, and just left it pushed in as far as I could get it. It's held so far (about a year), but still bothers me every time I think about it.
Yeah.
I'm not going to chance it.
I can pull it off without much effort.
I found this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...t-hose-111394/
It gives me a little more info on what I'm doing.
I guess I just need pictures. ;op
However, if I can't get this thing to snap into place, I'm cutting it on and going with a regular hose clamp.
I was out in the Texas heat trying to get this on and I think I might be losing my sense of humor about the whole thing.
Quick... Somebody tell me a joke!!!

that does NOT stay on the connector. It is there to keep the connector from sliding forward and locking while you're trying to slide forward on the pipe. That's why you cant slide the lock forward. Clean the pipe so there are no burrs or it'll cut the inner o ring and leak. Lube the pipe, slide forward, remove the green lock and slide the connector lock forward till seated,
