replacing CATS suspension
Hi all,
I wonder if you could offer some advice to a total newbie to the world of Jaguar please?
My 1997 x308 which I bought last week needs new shocks. I think I have CATS suspension simply because there are wires sprouting out of the top of my front shocks.
The CATS shocks are quite expensive so I just want to ask you guys for your thoughts on replacement shocks....
Is it worth spending the extra cash on the adaptive shocks in terms of ride quality etc.?
Is it possible to replace them with standard non-adaptive shocks and if so will I have a load of errors on the dash that I won't be able to clear?
Many thanks,
Paul

If you fully disconnect the CATS controller (passenger side foot well upper right hand side) you will not get any error messages on the dash. You have the "comfort" suspension on your car and can replace your CATS comfort shocks with standard comfort shocks and the ride will be very similar.
NOTE: the piston diameter of the CATS shocks is larger than the standard shocks so you will have some free play in the upper shock mount. Yu can wrap tape around the piston at the bushing to eliminate the free play
