Default Replacing front sway bar bushings in 2001 XJ8L

I researched the whole forumand have not found a clear explanation of how to replace the front sway bar bushings on my XJ8l. Looking for some insights into An easier way than that described in the J TIS.

So far, I have replaced the front shocks, the front upper shock mounts, had the tires balanced; each time getting marginal improvement in handling, ride and silencing.

Next up, sway bar bushings; But the explanations I found in the forum have been other cars XKRs, and 350s.

Suggestions?

It's a half hour job... You need to remove the under-tray(for easier access to the bolts) , and with a 10 mm socket just remove one lower and one upper bolts holding the bracket. When the bracket is out, just change the bush with the new one, I think that JTIS recommend to put a little grease inside the bush.

Good, good, all good. Thanks.

When you lift the car (doing this with jacks and on my back) do you place stands under the springs to reduce pressure on the sway bar?

I think that I did it with the wheels on the ground, but having the wheels suspended can be better.
I just checked again, you can do it without removing the undertray, plenty of access.

Try to remove first the upper bolt and then the lower, doing one part at a time.

The job took me 1 1/2 hours end to end. I jacked up both wheels and put jackstands underneath the wishbones. This took the pressure off the swaybars and Raised the car high enough that I could get underneath and do the work. As advertised, before, the hardest part was getting the top bolt back in place on the right-hand side of the car. Patience works.

While underneath, I took some time to tighten up the crankcase bolts and check on some other places where there seemed to be an excessive amount of rust.

Definitely tightened up the suspension, rides a little tighter than before, but without any clunking. As with the new shock mount upper bushings, it will improve the more it's used.

Next up, new rear shock absorbers.

Appreciate the help, thanks.

there was no need to lift the wishbones. lifting the car up normally with no compression on the suspension will release all tension on the sway bar
